Master's Thesis - Method Development for Non-Destructive Surface Analysis

As part of your master's thesis at Bosch in Bamberg, you develop a new method for non-destructive surface analysis of components in quality management. Enrollment at a university is required. Contract type: full-time, fixed-term.

• You independently develop a new method for non-destructive surface analysis of components as part of your master's thesis.
• You specifically identify and characterize organic contaminations and foreign elements.
• You plan, carry out and optimize sample preparation and analytical measurements using modern analytical methods (e.g. GC-MS, ICP and solid phase extraction).
• You validate the developed method regarding detection limits, reproducibility and practicality for industrial use in quality management.
• You document your scientific results precisely, present them in the department and summarize the findings in your master's thesis.

• Advanced master's studies in chemistry, materials science / materials engineering, analytical chemistry or a comparable natural science or engineering field
• Personality and working style: You work in a very independent, structured and conscientious way. You get to the bottom of analytical questions with scientific curiosity and like working in a solution-oriented way in a team.
• Solid practical laboratory experience and theoretical and practical knowledge of instrumental analysis – ideally first experience with GC-MS, ICP or solid phase extraction (SPE)
• Great enthusiasm for methodical research, innovative trace and surface analysis, and for combining scientific methodology with industrial quality testing
• Very good German skills, spoken and written, and good English skills, spoken and written
