Practice-Integrated Training to Become an Early Childhood Educator

At the Villa Kunterbunt and Butterberg childcare centers, you will complete a varied, three-year practice-integrated training program lasting 39 hours per week. Theory at the vocational school for social pedagogy in Rendsburg is combined with practical work in the childcare center and a block internship in the second year.

Acquiring theoretical knowledge at the vocational school for social pedagogy and applying it in the childcare center; learning the various duties of an early childhood educator; supporting children in everyday childcare; linking theoretical and practical learning; completing a block internship in another field during the second year.

Intermediate school-leaving certificate or equivalent plus a recognized vocational qualification and at least 150 hours of relevant practical experience in child and youth work, unless you already have SPA training; or intermediate school-leaving certificate or equivalent plus three years of relevant full-time experience in child and youth services; or university of applied sciences entrance qualification or general higher education entrance qualification plus 150 hours of relevant practical experience; applicants with foreign qualifications must have an equivalence decision and B2 German certificate; enjoyment of working with children; helpful and friendly manner; open-mindedness, responsibility and commitment; enjoyment of teamwork; practical childcare experience preferred; extended police clearance certificate and proof of complete measles vaccination required.

Dual training with varied tasks and responsibility; collective-agreement training pay of approximately €1,490.69 in the first, €1,552.07 in the second and €1,653.38 in the third year; modern mobile device or iPad; 31 training vacation days; collective-agreement annual special payment; €400 bonus for passing the final examination on the first attempt; supplementary public-service pension; support for a stay abroad through Erasmus+; €30 subsidy for the Nah.SH public transport ticket; free library card; workplace health management services including corporate fitness and a company bicycle scheme.
