Paramedic (Emergency Medical Technician)

The paramedic training qualifies graduates for deployment in various functions across all areas of patient transport, qualified medical transport, emergency rescue, and civil protection. Besides theory, the training includes practical phases in suitable patient care facilities and in the emergency medical service.

Training comprises 240 hours of theoretical-practical instruction at the state-recognised paramedic school with a final assessment. Followed by 80 hours of practical training at the clinical learning site (40 hours each in anaesthesiology/intensive care). 160 hours of practical application in the real emergency medical service, including patient transports, organised independently at a recognised training rescue station. Conclusion: 40-hour final preparation course for the state examination (written, practical, oral).

Minimum age 17. Proof of identity (copy of ID card). Proof of secondary school diploma (Hauptschulabschluss) or higher. Good German language skills, especially in medical context (at least B2 level or equivalent). Subsequent documents to submit: Medical certificate of physical and health fitness (not older than 3 months). Occupational medical check-up G42.1 before clinical placement (contact at SKBS can be arranged). Proof of measles immunity per §20(9) Infection Protection Act. Declaration on criminal proceedings. Certificate of good conduct per §30 Federal Central Register Act (not older than 3 months).
