Materials Planner

TKMS is seeking a materials planner for ship operating systems in Emden, Hamburg and Wismar. This permanent, full-time role covers technical material specifications, materials planning and coordination with design, purchasing and manufacturing.

• Take a central role in managing materials for ship operating systems, including analyzing system requirements, preparing technical material specifications and maintaining relevant data in IT tools (Teamcenter and SAP)
• Prepare material specifications for pipes, pipe accessories, pipe supports, valves and related items, along with pipe lists, bills of materials and quantity estimates
• Plan and select pipe supports, pipes, pipe accessories, valves and related items, and create and track purchase requisitions
• Help develop design guidelines and work directly with system owners to resolve technical material questions
• Coordinate with purchasing, manufacturing and other departments while maintaining an ongoing overview of materials management for ship operating systems

• Completed technical vocational training focused on ship operating systems or mechanical engineering, or alternatively training or work experience as a pipe fitter; ideally relevant experience in ship operating systems and materials used in shipbuilding piping
• Sound knowledge of relevant standards for valves, pipes, pipe connections and fittings, materials science (material differences, uses, material combinations and material certificates), and DNV requirements for piping, accessories and valves
• Confident use of IT tools (MS Office, SAP and Teamcenter), very good German and English skills at C1 level, and the ability to read diagrams and related documents, translate them into material requirements, and handle complex technical requirements efficiently with a focus on results
• A structured, focused approach with strong personal responsibility, commitment and flexibility, strong organizational and analytical skills, and a clear understanding of technical matters
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in multicultural workplaces and when working with international partners, plus a proactive approach to continuously improving processes
