Retail Sales Apprenticeship

A three year retail sales apprenticeship at Selgros in Mannheim starting on 1 September 2027. You will learn about different departments and business processes, advise customers and help shape the product range.

• Maintain the product range: keep goods available, replenish and position stock correctly, and check stock levels, prices and labels.
• Receive goods: accept deliveries, check quantities and quality, record goods in the system and store them correctly.
• Provide customer service: advise customers, answer questions, help with complaints and exchanges, and find suitable solutions.
• Plan stock: plan and order goods according to demand to ensure availability and avoid excess stock.
• Analyse business figures: review figures such as revenue, sales volume and stock levels to identify improvements and guide ordering decisions.
• Handle warehouse and logistics processes: organise the flow and storage of goods, including order picking, packing and stocktaking, and maintain order and safety.

• A lower or intermediate secondary school leaving certificate.
• Interest in retail and products: enthusiasm for working with goods, product ranges and trends.
• Customer focus and communication skills: friendly, helpful and able to explain things clearly and listen well.
• Reliability and responsibility: keep agreements and work carefully, for example at the checkout, when receiving goods and when placing orders.
• Organisational skills: able to prioritise tasks such as putting goods away, reordering and serving customers.
• Numeracy: able to calculate prices and quantities and understand simple business figures.
• Comfort with IT: willing to use stock management systems, scanners and digital processes.
• Physical stamina and flexibility: stay calm during busy periods and be willing to work changing hours and Saturdays.
• Initiative and willingness to learn: help out, ask questions, accept feedback and keep improving.
