Software Developer, Modeling and Simulation

Airbus Defence and Space is recruiting for its Modelling & Simulation Software Product Line team in Immenstaad am Bodensee. The role involves developing complex simulation architectures for defence programmes and research projects in an international environment. Reduced weekly hours with adjusted duties are possible.

• Work in an agile project team on simulation-based studies and research projects, developing the company's simulation tools and adding capabilities such as further simulation models and interfaces
• Implement user and system requirements for system simulations
• Implement and extend military simulations in C++ across land, air, sea, space and cyber domains
• Complete assigned work on time, within budget and to the required quality
• Support the project manager with customer presentations and meetings
• Implement interfaces to integrate external hardware and software systems into simulations
• Support proposal preparation
• Carry out practical implementation and testing with other departments and industrial and academic partners, including universities and the Fraunhofer Society
• With the relevant qualifications: Coordinate simulation-based studies and research projects
• With the relevant qualifications: Take responsibility for delivering work packages on time, within budget and to the required quality
• With the relevant qualifications: Independently discuss technical matters with other departments and project partners from industry and research institutes
• With the relevant qualifications: Prepare proposals for work packages, including scope, time and costs

• Completed bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software development or a comparable subject
• Initial experience in development and simulation and working on software projects
• Initial practical programming experience in C++, ideally C++ 11/14/17 or newer
• Initial knowledge of key libraries such as Qt for graphical user interfaces is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of agile software development methods such as Scrum; familiarity with the ATLASSIAN tools JIRA and Confluence is an advantage
• Initial experience with development environments such as GitHub/GitLab is an advantage
• Knowledge of 3D modelling, OpenGL, OpenSceneGraph or game engines such as Unity3D is an advantage
• Fluent written and spoken German at C2 level and English at B2 level
• For additional duties: Good practical experience of 2 to 3 years in development and simulation and working on software projects
• For additional duties: Good practical programming experience of 2 to 3 years in C++, ideally C++ 11/14/17 or newer, and good knowledge of key libraries such as NumPy, OpenCV and Qt for graphical user interfaces
• For additional duties: Good practical experience with agile software development methods such as Scrum; familiarity with the ATLASSIAN tools JIRA and Confluence is an advantage
• For additional duties: Confident use of development environments such as GitHub/GitLab, PyCharm and Visual Studio is an advantage
