Intern / Thesis – AI & Surrogate Modeling

To support the Tooling Design Single Parts department, Airbus Helicopters is looking for an intern / thesis student on AI & surrogate modeling for thermal autoclave processes. The project aims to examine the feasibility of an AI agent that can predict thermodynamic phenomena in near real time from geometry data and metadata. Duration: 3 months internship and 6 months thesis.

• Investigate and evaluate different approaches to representing complex CAD and simulation data for neural networks (e.g. 2D image data, STL,..).
• Select suitable deep learning architectures (e.g. CNNs, GNNs) and implement a prototype for fast prediction of temperature distributions.
• Design and build an automated data pipeline to transform raw design and simulation data for model training.
• Validate model accuracy using historical autoclave cycles and check for physical plausibility.
• Create a concept for user-friendly integration of the trained AI model into the existing design environment.
• Evaluation and documentation

• Enrolled full-time student (m/f/d) in engineering / data science / computer science or a comparable field of study
• Good knowledge of development, composite and metal materials, and production engineering
• Solid practical experience in machine learning / deep learning
• Basic understanding of physical relationships (thermodynamics, heat transfer)
• Good knowledge of AI systems (Gemini)
• CAD skills (CATIA V5) an advantage
• Very good MS Office / Google Suite skills
• Fluent German and good English skills
