About this Apprenticeship
Freight railway apprenticeship at BASF SE in Ludwigshafen. You will learn to drive freight trains, carry out shunting operations and ensure safe railway operations.
What You'll Learn
- Drive freight trains according to timetables and operating requirements
- Carry out shunting operations and assemble freight trains
- Monitor and check that locomotives and freight wagons are technically ready for operation
- Communicate with train dispatchers and other teams to keep operations running smoothly
- Follow safety and accident prevention rules
- Observe special rules when transporting dangerous goods or other unusual cargo
- Fix minor technical faults before and during journeys
Requirements
- At least a good lower secondary school leaving certificate
- At least 17 years old when the apprenticeship starts
- Good German language skills
- Physical fitness and medical and psychological fitness for the role
- Interest in railways and technology
- Enjoyment of practical work
- A responsible, accurate and careful approach to work
- Willingness to work shifts
