Apprenticeship as Cook

Do you have a passion for good food, enjoy working with fresh ingredients and want to develop your culinary talent in a professional environment? As a cook you will get to know all the important aspects of gastronomy. During your training you will work in a motivated team and learn the basics of preparing, presenting and planning dishes. Vocational school classes take place at BBS Technik II in Ludwigshafen.

• Preparing cold and hot dishes (from regional and international cuisine) at the different kitchen stations
• Learning process flows at the different kitchen stations
• Introduction to professional dealings with guests
• Putting together and developing menus, buffets or catering
• Professional purchasing, checking and storing of food
• Learning the correct use of kitchen knives and machines
• Getting to know and following hygiene rules and our hygiene standards
• Getting to know and following occupational safety and environmental protection

• At least Berufsreife (lower secondary school certificate)
• Minimum age of 17 at the start of training
• Willingness to work flexible hours
• Creativity, enjoyment of cooking and interest in other cultures
• Well-groomed appearance and good manners
• Teamwork and resilience
• First experience in gastronomy or system catering is desirable
