Apprenticeship as IT Specialist for Application Development

The Bergische Universität Wuppertal is a dynamic, research-oriented campus university. Around 24,500 people study, research and work here at nine faculties, in partly interdisciplinary research institutions or in administration. In the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Media Technology and Computer Science we offer an apprenticeship position as IT Specialist for Application Development. IT Specialists for Application Development develop and program customer-specific software, test and adapt existing applications and develop user-friendly interfaces, fix errors, advise and train users. They apply software engineering methods and modern software, using the full breadth of current information and telecommunication technologies up to multimedia applications. They work for providers and service providers of information and communication technology or providers of learning software (e-learning) up to internet and e-business consulting companies and in specialist departments involved in the creation and maintenance of software application solutions.

Develop, create and maintain IT solutions; carry out and document quality assurance measures; implement, integrate and verify measures for IT security and data protection; operate IT systems; program software solutions; design and implement customer-specific software applications; ensure quality of software applications; commission storage solutions; design and develop user interfaces; realise functionality in applications.

Successful school leaving certificate (Hauptschule, Fachoberschulreife, Fachhochschulreife or Allgemeine Hochschulreife); enjoyment of learning and designing; interest in programming; openness to new techniques; German language skills at native speaker level or C1 certificate GER.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, there is the possibility of being taken on after the apprenticeship.
