Specialist Platform Engineering BigData

At DATEV you help shape the BigData platform that lets development teams automate data flows, query large amounts of data efficiently, manage analytical datasets and run distributed data processing for batch and real-time scenarios. With Everything as Code, self-service and observability, you build the basis for short release cycles and high stability.

• You build and run the BigData platforms based on Kubernetes with their systems and integrated security and governance controls, observability and lifecycle management components (backup, restore and disaster recovery).
• You implement deployment, update and scaling processes using infrastructure, configuration and policy as code as well as GitOps.
• You develop APIs, CLI tools and service catalogs for self-service use by development teams.
• You evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools in coordination with relevant stakeholders (e.g. architecture, security, technology management, workstreams).
• You take on last-level support, analyze technical incidents, load, configuration and permission problems, and steer lasting solutions together with our stakeholders.

• You have a successfully completed degree in computer science or a comparable field, or a completed comparable vocational training with several years of professional experience.
• You have several years of experience in platform engineering, or in building and running CaaS-based platforms including observability, security and compliance and their integration into operations.
• You have good knowledge of cloud platform technologies (especially Kubernetes) and a good understanding of cloud principles.
• You bring practical experience in automation and Everything as Code (e.g. Terraform, ArgoCD, IaC, GitOps).
• You are familiar with working with development teams; agile working is part of how you see yourself.
• You are motivated to learn how to build and run CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), including automated builds, tests, deployments and security scans.
• You are willing to acquire good knowledge of running and securing cloud environments (e.g. AWS/Azure/GCP, IAM, network security, monitoring/logging with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki).
