About this Apprenticeship
You work with your team outdoors on construction sites on our tracks Together you lay new rails and switches, inspect everything for damage and replace defective parts With the help of modern machines you renew the ballast under the tracks You ensure that all measurements are correct – so that trains later run smoothly and safely During your apprenticeship as a track layer you are already an important part of the team and ensure every day that our trains run reliably
Requirements
- You have successfully completed (or will soon complete) school and your school diploma is recognized in Germany
- Your German language skills correspond to at least level B2
- Sitting at a desk is not for you – you prefer to work outdoors
- You are motivated and reliable
- You enjoy teamwork and like to pitch in
- Different work locations and working hours as well as night shifts are a welcome change for you

- Free travel: We offer you 16 free trips within Germany per year and further travel discounts such as the DB Job Ticket for your daily commute. In addition, there are inexpensive travel options for family and friends.
- Rent subsidy: We support you in settling into your new city! If you have to commute more than 2.5 hours daily from your previous place of residence and rent a closer apartment, you receive a rent subsidy of up to 400 € per month from us.
- Takeover: After your successful graduation you receive an offer for takeover at DB.
- Attractive remuneration: Depending on the apprenticeship year between 1,324 Euro and 1,531 Euro per month plus Christmas bonus. * Remuneration amounts valid from 01.07.2026. Employment conditions apply to the vast majority of apprentices in the DB Group.
- DB Youngster Community: DB Youngster Community – Experience exciting workshops, cool events, community trips and much more with other apprentices and dual students.
