Apprenticeship as Construction Train Driver 2027

As a train driver, you make sure the construction projects of DB Bahnbau Gruppe GmbH can be carried out. The 3-year apprenticeship as a railway operations specialist (train driver and transport) starts on 30 August 2027 in Halle (Saale). The vocational school is in Halle-Neustadt, and seminars take place in Leipzig near the main station.

• You learn the rules for safe railway operations and get to know your vehicle inside out
• Checking that your train works properly and securing loads are also part of your tasks
• At the start of your training you learn what to watch for to drive trains safely and on time from A to B
• Step by step you then drive construction trains yourself, with your trainers always at your side
• You also learn how our construction trains are prepared and assembled for journeys
• Among other things, you drive modern diesel-electric locomotives to construction sites across Germany, usually travelling the whole week

• You have (soon) completed your Realschule diploma and your school certificate is recognised in Germany
• Your German skills are at least B2 level
• You are enthusiastic about technology and really enjoy working outdoors in the fresh air
• You stay calm and keep an overview even in difficult situations
• You like taking responsibility, make decisions quickly and are reliable and resilient
• Shift work suits you, and working weekends and public holidays is fine for you too
• The selection process includes a medical and psychological aptitude examination
