About this Apprenticeship

We are Deutsche Bahn. Millions of passengers travel with us every day and we transport enormous quantities of goods – throughout Germany and in neighbouring Europe. Too often we also disappoint. That's why we are working flat out for a better railway. For that we need power and you! We are one of Germany's most diverse employers. Every year we look for around 5,000 apprentices in 50 different apprenticeship occupations who want to make the railway a little better every day together with us. Get on board: We offer you attractive benefits, a fixed contact person and a great team at your side. And after successful apprenticeship you have the best chances of being taken on! You like tinkering, are interested in technology and want to support rail traffic functioning well with your work – then you are exactly right with us! From 1 September 2027 we are looking for you for the 3.5-year apprenticeship as a mechatronics technician (f/m/d) at DB InfraGO AG in Ingolstadt. The vocational school and the training workshop are located in Ingolstadt. DB is large and mechatronics technicians are versatile, so we can offer you apprenticeship on the track network, in or at the station or in the workshop.

What You'll Learn

As a mechatronics technician you learn the basics of mechanics and electronics. You carry out maintenance and repair work on vehicles or technical systems in our stations or on the track network. To find faults, you use modern measuring and testing equipment. Furthermore, as a mechatronics technician you test electrical, electronic and mechanical systems – everything that keeps a train running. You will learn all about the maintenance of level crossing systems and control systems in our vehicles, such as information displays or doors.

Requirements

You have successfully completed school with at least an intermediate school-leaving certificate (soon) and your school-leaving certificate is recognised in Germany. Your German language skills correspond to at least level B2. Technology and teamwork are fun for you. Your knowledge of maths and physics is particularly good. That you are reliable goes without saying. Moreover, you work very precisely and like to get stuck in.

What We Offer

For the success of your apprenticeship we offer the best conditions: You will receive a mobile device from us that you can use for learning and also privately. We offer you 16 free journeys within Germany per year and further travel concessions such as the DB Job Ticket for your daily commute. In addition, there are favourable travel options for family and friends. We support you in settling into your new city! If you have to commute more than 2.5 hours daily from your previous place of residence and rent a closer apartment, you will receive a rent subsidy of up to 400 € per month from us.
