Apprenticeship Train Traffic Controller 2027

Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. Starting 15 August 2027, we are looking for you for the 3-year apprenticeship as a railway worker in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the Torgau location. The vocational school is located on Edisonstraße in Schkeuditz (near Leipzig). If certain requirements are met, we support you with longer commutes (for example financially). With the apprenticeship you become the coordinator of our trains. You do not sit in the train, but in a control centre (called: "signal box"). We have countless ones across Germany. Via screens or panels you can observe the trains in your area and via buttons, keys and levers you can also influence the movement of the trains. At the push of a button you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. Many other tasks make you the most important team member for the train drivers. You are in constant contact and exchange information about changes during the journey. With your small team you work in the greater Torgau area on a signal box close to the action. Here you see the trains passing by. The control of the trains is mostly done via levers, push buttons or rotary switches.

• You learn when to press the right keys and buttons to switch signals (traffic lights) or points (track change transitions)
• You are often in contact with the other employees in train traffic control and in the control centres as well as the train drivers
• You are an important part of our team and enable our passengers to have a safe and punctual journey with our trains

• You have successfully completed (or will soon complete) school and your school qualification is recognised in Germany
• Your German language skills correspond to at least level B2 (for applicants with B1 level we offer a B2 online language course before the apprenticeship starts)
• Even in demanding situations you stay calm and keep an overview
• You willingly take responsibility and work with concentration
• Teamwork and reliability characterise you
• You are willing to work in shifts
