About this Apprenticeship
Three-year apprenticeship in train traffic control with DB InfraGO AG in Plauen, starting on 15 August 2027. You coordinate trains in the wider Plauen area from a signal box and operate signals and points. Vocational school is on Edisonstraße in Schkeuditz near Leipzig.
What You'll Learn
- Your colleagues show you step by step how to operate the equipment in a signal box correctly.
- You learn when to press the right buttons to change signals or points.
- You are often in contact with other train traffic controllers, control centre staff and train drivers.
- You play an important part in the team and help passengers travel safely and on time.
Requirements
- You have successfully finished school or will do so soon, and your school qualification is recognised in Germany.
- Your German is at least B2 level; applicants with B1 German are offered an online B2 language course before the apprenticeship starts.
- You stay calm and keep track of things even in demanding situations.
- You enjoy taking responsibility and can concentrate on your work.
- You work well in a team and are reliable.
- You are willing to work shifts.
- You will undergo an aptitude examination as part of the selection process.

- Support for longer journeys, including financial help, is available if you meet certain conditions.
- You receive a mobile device for learning and personal use.
- You receive 16 free journeys within Germany each year, further travel discounts such as the DB Job-Ticket for commuting, and discounted travel options for family and friends.
- If your daily commute from your previous home takes more than 2.5 hours and you rent a home closer to work, you receive a rent subsidy of up to €400 per month.
- After successfully completing your apprenticeship, you receive an offer to stay with DB.
- Depending on your training year, you receive €1,324 to €1,531 per month plus a Christmas bonus. These rates apply from 1 July 2026; the employment terms cover the vast majority of DB Group apprentices.
- The DB Youngster Community offers workshops, events, community trips and more with other apprentices and dual students.
- Up to €3,500 of the cost of obtaining your car driving licence during your apprenticeship is covered.
- You have a dedicated contact person and a team to support you.
