Apprenticeship Train Traffic Controller 2027

We are Deutsche Bahn. Millions of passengers travel with us every day and we transport enormous quantities of goods – nationwide and in neighboring Europe. Train traffic control is an indispensable part of rail transport. Here you ensure that our passengers reach their destination safely and on time. Starting 1 September 2027, we are looking for you for the 3-year apprenticeship as a railway operator in train traffic control (f/m/d) for DB InfraGO AG at the locations Bad Kleinen, Neuruppin or Rostock. The vocational school is located in Güstrow. During the apprenticeship you become the coordinator of our trains. You do not sit in the train, but in a control center (called "signal box"). Via screens or panels you can observe the trains in your area and influence their movement using buttons, keys and levers. At the push of a button you can set signals (traffic lights for trains) to green or red and also switch points so that trains can change tracks. You work in the "Schwerin network" on a signal box close to the action. You will also get to know the electronic signal boxes in the region. Here you can track trains on many screens and control train traffic by mouse click.

Your colleagues show you step by step how to operate the technology in a signal box correctly. You learn when to press the right keys and buttons to switch signals (traffic lights) or points (track change transitions). You are often in contact with the other employees in train traffic control and in the control centers as well as with the train drivers. You are an important part of our team and enable our passengers to have a safe and punctual journey with our trains.

You have successfully completed (or will soon complete) school and your school qualification is recognized in Germany. Your German language skills correspond to at least level B2. Even in demanding situations you remain calm and keep an overview. You like to take responsibility and work with concentration. Teamwork and reliability characterize you. You are willing to work in shifts. As part of the selection process for this apprenticeship you will undergo an aptitude test.
