Requirements
- You have completed or will soon complete your general or subject-specific university entrance qualification, or hold a suitable vocational qualification; vocationally qualified applicants must meet FH Erfurt's enrolment requirements.
- Maths and physics are your favourite subjects.
- You have a strong interest in railway operations and in business and technical matters.
- You stay calm in difficult situations and have good coordination skills.
- You work with focus and communicate well.
- You are willing to work shifts and, after the apprenticeship, also weekends and public holidays.
- You are able to travel between locations.
- The selection process includes an aptitude examination.

- If commuting from your previous home would take more than 2.5 hours daily and you rent a closer home, you receive a rent subsidy of up to €400 per month.
- Depending on your study year, you receive €1,406 to €1,538 per month and a €4,000 study bonus. These pay amounts apply from 1 July 2026; the employment conditions apply to the vast majority of dual students within the DB Group.
- After successfully completing the programme, you receive an offer to stay with DB.
- The DB StudentsClub offers contact with other students, events and networking opportunities across the group.
- You receive a NetzCard for unlimited journeys on almost all Deutsche Bahn trains, including personal travel, plus further travel discounts.
- The DB Youngster Community offers workshops, events, community trips and other activities with fellow apprentices and dual students.
- A dedicated contact person and a great team support you.
