AI Engineer

In the Advanced Analytics & Algorithms team within Corporate Technology & Innovation, you combine data science methods with generative and agentic AI. In interdisciplinary projects, you bring AI solutions into internal applications and into Dräger's product portfolio. You work in a team of twelve data and AI experts, in close collaboration with product development, IT and the specialist departments. The position is permanent.

• Technical design of AI applications (AI methods, architecture approaches, data sources, evaluation and security concept) and implementation as proofs of concept
• Development of production-ready AI components following software engineering standards, especially for agentic and RAG-based systems (context engineering, tool use, agent loops, orchestration)
• Obtaining relevant data with IT and data owners, as well as preparing and analyzing it
• Development and use of evaluation methods across the entire lifecycle
• Operation and maintenance of the AI components (MLOps / LLMOps): versioning, tracing, quality and drift monitoring and cost control
• Technology scouting: surveying the state of the art and making relevant methods usable for Dräger

• Completed degree in computer science, business informatics, data science, mathematics, physics or statistics
• Several years of professional experience in data science or AI engineering and / or a completed doctorate
• Experience in data science and machine learning: analysis of structured, unstructured and multimodal data as well as building and validating ML models
• Practice in building and operating generative and agentic AI solutions (context engineering incl. RAG and memory, tool use e.g. via MCP, agent loops, orchestration) as well as in their evaluation (test datasets, metrics, LLM-as-judge, failure mode and trajectory analysis)
• Professional software development with Python (automated testing, CI/CD, versioning), knowledge of cloud, data / ML platforms (e.g. Databricks) and containers (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) as well as security risks of AI applications
• You grasp complex questions quickly and work in a traceable way. You explain your results as convincingly to developer teams as to specialist departments and management. In a field that changes monthly, you enjoy learning.
• You use German and English fluently in projects and documentation.
