Train Driver as Examiner

As an operations inspector at FlixTrain, you monitor operational staff working in train service, conduct examinations and ensure that operating rules are followed consistently. You work with operations teams, employees and authorities.

• Conduct operational inspections and monitoring trips, and analyse driving data against safety targets
• Manage staff qualifications, including maintaining operational records for staff working in train service
• Issue ride-along permits and assignments to gain route and local knowledge, and manage the related supplementary certificates
• Spot-check duty rosters and shifts for compliance with driving and rest times and BRW planning rules
• Support accident and incident investigations, cover the railway operator’s emergency service and act as an examiner under FlixTrain GmbH’s examination rules
• Help develop the safety management system and operating rules, and maintain internal digital safety applications
• As part of ECM duties, check compliance with legal and internal ECM rules for the safe operation of vehicles

• Train driver’s licence with a valid supplementary certificate and at least three years of professional experience, excluding training time
• Very strong knowledge of railway operating rules, ideally including European rules and those of neighbouring countries near the border
• Fitness under TfV, at least an intermediate secondary school qualification and proven German skills at C1 level or above
• At least 100 hours of train driving per calendar year and a car driving licence
• Willingness to travel throughout Germany, work weekends, public holidays and nights, and take on-call duties
• Experience dealing with passengers and safety-related situations
• Strong communication skills and sensitivity when dealing with employees and authorities
