Boatbuilder, Technical Specialisation - Fassmer Service

As a boatbuilder specialising in technical systems, you install technical equipment and learn maintenance, fault diagnosis, repairs and inspection of boats for structural and material damage. The apprenticeship normally lasts 3.5 years and takes place at the company and at vocational school in Brake or Travemünde/Lübeck in block teaching. Part 1 of the final examination takes place before the end of the second training year and Part 2 in the middle of the fourth year; the apprenticeship can be shortened with good grades.

Install technical equipment ranging from propulsion systems and electronic devices to energy storage systems and fire-extinguishing equipment; install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair systems; inspect boats for structural and material damage; replace equipment; work with wood, plastics, aluminium and paint.

At least a good intermediate school-leaving certificate; practical skills; ability to work in a team; commitment and enjoyment of learning.
