Manufacturing and Development Technologist, Optical Manufacturing (Temporary)

Jenoptik is seeking a specialist in Jena to support and develop manufacturing and measurement technologies for optical components. The position is initially limited to 1 year.

• Support and develop manufacturing technologies for optical components while taking business objectives into account
• Continuously improve manufacturing processes
• Resolve technical problems in manufacturing through analysis, identifying causes and introducing lasting corrective measures
• Carry out projects to develop new and improved manufacturing and measurement technologies for optical components
• Document and present project results and prepare technical manufacturing documents
• Transfer manufacturing technologies into production and series production
• Serve as the contact for the product development department on the manufacturability of optical components
• Prepare investment requests, commission new manufacturing equipment and introduce it into production, including preparing the necessary documents
• Combine independent technical work with teamwork
• Explain technical matters in internal and external talks and presentations
• Maintain close technical communication with internal and external partners

• Diplom or master's degree in engineering or natural sciences
• Knowledge of technologies used to manufacture optical components and systems
• Knowledge of problem solving and process improvement, such as Six Sigma methods, continuous improvement, Lean and 8D reports
• Good understanding of manufacturing process engineering
• Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, willingness to take responsibility, and a service and customer focus
• Good analytical skills, a committed, structured and results focused working style, and a high level of assertiveness and resilience
• Care and caution when handling optical components
• Business fluent German and English
