Process Engineer / Manufacturing Technologist, Spherical Optics

Jenoptik is seeking a process engineer or manufacturing technologist for spherical optics in Jena. The role focuses on developing and improving manufacturing processes for high-performance optical components and transferring them into series production.

• Develop new, efficient technological workflows and processes, primarily for spherical optical component manufacturing, and transfer them into series production
• Analyse and improve existing manufacturing processes to increase first-pass yield and reduce manufacturing costs and lead times
• Manage defective products and faulty processes and initiate corrective measures
• Create work instructions
• Prepare manufacturing orders and provide input for production planning
• Plan and request investments for expansion and replacement, and implement them on time
• Plan and lead or participate in technology projects
• Assess process options for cost effectiveness and capacity bottlenecks
• Conduct feasibility analyses, review drawings and assess technological risks, for example through FMEA analyses
• Support the quotation process and supplier qualification
• Explain technical matters in internal and external talks and presentations

• Completed degree in a scientific subject, ideally precision engineering, manufacturing engineering, optical technologies or applied physics engineering
• Knowledge and experience in manufacturing high-performance optical components, preferably spherical optics
• Knowledge of project management
• Ability to read technical drawings and parts lists, and knowledge of the SAP R3 MM module and Microsoft Office
• Good German and English skills at B2 level
• A structured and results-focused approach to work
• Ability to grasp new information quickly, work in a team and independently, and communicate well
