Supplier Quality Assurance, Mechanical Components

Jenoptik is seeking support for quality assurance of purchased mechanical parts and assemblies in Jena. The role sits within the Semiconductor & Advanced Manufacturing Strategic Business Unit, which provides photonics, semiconductor equipment and precision component solutions.

• Ensure the quality of purchased mechanical parts and assemblies and their compliance with specifications
• Create, consolidate and maintain quality specifications and requirements for purchased mechanical parts
• Create, update and coordinate external inspection plans
• Conduct and assess first article inspections (FAI), particularly for new, second-source and MoB suppliers
• Handle supplier complaints (Q2/F2), including root cause analysis, tracking corrective actions and checking their effectiveness
• Evaluate quality reports and continuously track the quality performance of relevant suppliers
• Assess suppliers' manufacturing and inspection processes and support supplier capability assessments
• Initiate and support supplier improvement and capability development measures
• Visit suppliers and support supplier audits
• Work closely with suppliers and internal teams such as purchasing, materials planning, development and other quality functions

• Completed technical degree, technician or master craftsperson qualification, or a comparable qualification, preferably in mechanical engineering, production engineering, precision engineering or mechatronics
• Experience in quality management, supplier quality management or quality assurance of mechanical components is desirable
• Good knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, such as CNC machining, turning, milling, grinding, sheet metal processing or surface treatment
• Confidence working with technical drawings, tolerances and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GPS/GD&T)
• Knowledge of inspection and measurement methods for mechanical components
• Experience with quality methods such as 8D, FAI, 5 Whys, Ishikawa and ideally FMEA is desirable
• Experience working with suppliers, ideally including supplier audits and supplier development, is desirable
• An analytical, structured and solution-focused approach and confidence when dealing with suppliers
• Good German and English skills and willingness to visit suppliers
