Apprenticeship as Agricultural and Construction Machinery Mechatronics Technician

You like to tinker, want to know how technology works and also get your hands dirty? Then this is your apprenticeship: In 3.5 years you will be trained as a recognized specialist for modern agricultural and construction machinery (f/m/d) with us. And you work where research becomes very practical: in the technical department on the experimental farm of the Thünen Institute in Trenthorst. Thünen Institute – who we are: At the Trenthorst site we research how organic farming can become more environmentally friendly, animal-friendly and efficient. The focus is on animal husbandry. Our results flow into policy, practice and consulting. The Institute of Organic Farming belongs to the Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute, the Federal Research Institute for Rural Areas, Forestry and Fisheries. In your 3.5-year apprenticeship as an agricultural and construction machinery mechatronics technician you will learn how to maintain, repair and service machines and vehicles. This includes among other things: Furthermore, you will participate in the technical implementation of research projects, including: working with wood, metals and plastics and the optimization and implementation of technical requirements of agricultural equipment for research in organic farming.

Vehicle electrics and electronics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems; find and rectify faults with modern diagnostic technology; maintenance and repair of institute-owned machines and equipment; carry out measurements and functional tests; metalworking; work with wood, metals and plastics and the optimization and implementation of technical requirements of agricultural equipment for research in organic farming.

Qualification: at least a good secondary school leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss); for foreign educational qualifications we require proof of equivalence to a German qualification or recognition in Germany; driving license: class L desirable; language skills: good German language skills at C1 level, these are regularly assumed with a German school leaving certificate. If you do not have a German school leaving certificate, please attach a certificate of language level C1 to your application; skills: technical understanding and interest in agricultural machinery as well as willingness to learn and reliability.

Fair remuneration: apprenticeship remuneration according to the collective agreement for trainees in the public sector (TVAöD Bund): 1st apprenticeship year 1,368.26 €, 2nd year 1,418.20 €, 3rd year 1,464.02 €, 4th year 1,527.09 €; extras: allowance for capital-forming benefits, subsidy for the Deutschland-Job-Ticket and free parking spaces; time for you: 30 days vacation per year, 5-day week with 39 hours; perspective: after passing the final examination, a fixed-term employment for 12 months is possible; health: occupational health management and preventive offers; work environment: a committed, nice team, modern equipment and a future-proof workplace in a dynamic research institute.
