About this Apprenticeship

In an internship at LVM Insurance you can put your theoretically acquired knowledge into practice and gain insight into our business processes. ### Possible Areas of Activity In various areas we can offer you exciting internships or thesis projects (please note separate job postings) with a multitude of challenging tasks and participation in attractive projects. Our IT@LVM is broadly positioned and deals with topics such as:
- Software and Web Development: We develop our modern and customized applications for our internal staff, our agents in the agencies, and our customers largely ourselves. We use Java and the Spring/SpringBoot stack in the backend as well as TypeScript and Angular in the frontend. To ensure excellent quality, we place great emphasis on good code quality, decoupling, and automated testing. User experience is our top priority!
- App Development: The LVM app is available for Android and iOS. The complete development is handled by our IT@LVM.
- IT Infrastructure Development: Automations and pipelines are as much a part of our multifaceted IT infrastructure as virtualization solutions and container technologies. Kafka is also not just a writer for us.
- IT Security: We do everything to protect the valuable data of our customers. You want to learn how we protect against hackers, trojans, and viruses? Our IT security experts at IT@LVM show what matters!
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2, Neo4j, and Redis are just a few examples from our database infrastructure. At our company, you learn all aspects of database architecture. From data modeling to database performance.
- z/OS System Development: The mainframe is still an indispensable part of our IT infrastructure today. The z/OS operating system and the corresponding system development and administration are therefore an integral part of our IT@LVM.
- Machine Learning: Machine learning is not future music for us, but already lived practice to offer our customers even better service and optimize our business processes.
- Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse: The analysis and evaluation of our data, the establishment of connections, and comprehensive data quality management are also tasks of IT@LVM. The data is available to all departments in our group-wide data warehouse. For implementation we use, among others, SAS, Informatica, Teradata, and in-house developments with Python.
- UX Design & Usability: Our UX design team knows how the users of our applications tick and creates digital experiences for our employees and customers for all platforms and devices based on user journeys. For this, it designs the visual appearance of our applications and develops style guides.
- Internal Audit: You want to know how our IT@LVM works from the inside? With us you get a look behind the scenes: As part of the internal audit, you examine the entire IT business organization of LVM and help improve processes and identify risks early.

Requirements
- You are in an advanced course of study from the 3rd semester onward in information science, computer science, business informatics or a comparable program.
- You can commit to us as an intern for at least two months.
- You bring a high degree of initiative and the ability to work independently.
- You enjoy taking responsibility and actively shaping things.
- Your strong communication skills and enjoyment of teamwork are key qualities we value.
