Physical Analysis Engineer

Permanent full-time role in physical analysis at Robert Bosch Semiconductor Manufacturing Dresden GmbH. You examine semiconductor chips using electron microscopy and other methods, supporting material and equipment approval, process control and technology development. Start date by agreement.

• As part of the analysis team, you independently carry out and document physical analyses of semiconductor chips.
• You take responsibility for completing entire electron microscope analyses on time and to the required quality standards, from sample preparation using focused ion beam and other methods (fracturing, polishing, etc.) through imaging to report writing.
• Your analyses support internal departments in approving production materials and equipment, controlling processes and developing technologies.
• You are the technical contact for those requesting analyses. When needed, you advise them on available analysis methods and present your results in teams from different disciplines.
• You develop and improve analysis methods to meet future physical analysis needs.
• You are willing to take on tasks across the laboratory, such as keeping equipment available for use.

• Education: a successfully completed degree in natural sciences or engineering
• Experience and expertise: several years of experience in the semiconductor industry focusing on physical analysis are desirable; confident use of scanning electron microscopes and focused ion beam equipment, including associated accessories; basic knowledge of TEM; knowledge of other methods, including their use and evaluation, is an advantage (e.g. SIMS, SRP, AFM, PEM, OBIRCH, LIT)
• Personality and working style: cooperative, a team player, a strong communicator, able to work under pressure, flexible and willing to work staggered hours; responsible, organised, independent, focused on solutions and customer needs, with a practical approach to laboratory work
• Languages: very good written and spoken German and English
