Apprenticeship as an IT Specialist for System Integration

As an IT specialist for system integration, you will plan, build, operate and support the city's IT systems. The three-year apprenticeship includes practical placements in various IT departments of the City of Bochum as well as project phases. The theoretical instruction takes place at the Technical Vocational School 1 of the City of Bochum. The qualification is IT Specialist in the field of System Integration.

• Planning and implementing IT infrastructures, including servers, networks, clients, databases and cloud services
• Setting up and supporting Windows and Linux servers
• Installing and configuring specialist applications
• Providing and setting up IT workstations
• Monitoring and ensuring smooth IT operations
• Analysing and resolving faults in IT systems and applications
• Setting up and monitoring security measures to protect data and systems
• Supporting and advising users on technical issues
• Setting up and configuring servers
• Building and setting up networks
• Documenting applications, systems and processes
• Participating in IT projects

One of the following school qualifications: first school-leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss after grade 9), extended first school-leaving certificate (Hauptschulabschluss after grade 10, type A), intermediate school-leaving certificate (Fachoberschulreife), the school-based part of the advanced technical college entrance qualification, the full advanced technical college entrance qualification, or the general higher education entrance qualification (Abitur).
