Systems Engineer for Laser Communication Terminals - Focus on Communications Engineering

Satellite-based laser communication is revolutionizing how data is transmitted in space. It enables higher data transfer speeds, greater security and more efficient use compared with traditional radio frequency transmission. Tesat-Spacecom relies on modern modulation and coding methods and its systems are already operating successfully in space.

• Design of the LCT communication system
• Investigating and developing concepts for different mission requirements, covering the range of common modulation methods (e.g. OOK, QPSK, …) and matching coding/decoding methods, for missions with low data rates and long distances as well as high-data-rate networks (> 100Gbps)
• Maintaining the system requirements and specifications documents for the communication system
• Supporting the communication system across the various LCT programs of the product lines
• Internal interface between the overall system lead and the equipment leads, as well as gateware and application software
• Support with test execution
• Taking part in negotiations with customers and presenting development and test results to customers

• Doctorate or university degree (Master's or comparable) in Information and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related disciplines
• Several years of experience in communications engineering / information technology or digital signal processing desirable
• Technical knowledge of current lasercom products as well as interdisciplinary knowledge in electrical engineering, optics and mechanics
• Resilience, flexibility, communication skills, organizational talent and analytical thinking
• Negotiation-level German and English skills, spoken and written
