Three-and-a-half-year vocational training at thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG, Germany's largest steel producer. You learn at the plant and at vocational school. As a cutting machine operator, you independently make precision parts from different materials on hand-operated or computer-controlled machine tools. After training, you can continue to become a master craftsperson or technician, or go on to study. Pay follows the collective agreement for the iron and steel industry NRW (as of 01.01.2026): €1,176.00 in the first, €1,231.00 in the second, €1,314.00 in the third and €1,420.00 in the fourth training year.

• Carry out machining processes such as turning, milling, drilling and grinding on modern machine tools
• Apply other metalworking processes such as welding, soldering and heat treatment
• Use materials and auxiliary materials properly and create and use technical documents
• Correctly assess the importance of occupational safety and environmental protection
• Plan and organize work and evaluate work results
