Automotive Mechatronics Technician

An automotive mechatronics technician is sought in Kiel (full-time, permanent).

• Carrying out inspections and service work, including regular maintenance (oil change, filter replacement, brake fluid check) according to manufacturer specifications, and replacing wear parts such as brake pads, discs, spark plugs, timing belts or tires
• Repairing assemblies, including engine parts, transmissions, chassis, steering and electric drive systems, as well as finding cable breaks, short circuits, defective batteries or alternators and managing high-voltage batteries
• Troubleshooting and diagnosis using diagnostic devices and scan tools, reading fault memories, systematically locating defects, performing software and firmware updates for vehicle management and installing on-board electronics
• Advising customers on necessary repairs and vehicle care, fully documenting all work in SAP, and identifying and ordering required spare parts from suppliers
• Quality control through test drives to check that all faults are fixed and vehicle functions meet specifications

• Completed vocational training as an automotive mechatronics technician or a comparable qualification with at least 5 years of work experience, plus solid technical understanding of combustion engines (petrol/diesel), transmissions (manual, automatic, DSG), clutches, drive shafts, suspension and steering systems, hydraulic brake systems (ABS, ESP, electronic parking brakes) and high-voltage drive and battery systems, including cell chemistry, battery management and safety levels
• Extensive knowledge of electrics and electronics, safe handling of voltage, current, resistance (Ohm's law), reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, vehicle electrical systems, control units (CANBus, LINBus, FlexRay), plus routine use of brand-specific or universal scan tools, reading fault memory, firmware updates, parameter configuration, calibration of cameras and radar systems
• Expertise in materials (metals, plastics, seals) and their properties, as well as emission standards (Euro 6), main inspection and TÜV requirements and legal requirements for road registration
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, structured and goal-oriented thinking, high flexibility, commitment and willingness to organize, and an independent, responsible way of working
• Safe handling of occupational safety and environmental regulations (UVV, hazardous substances, disposal of waste oil, batteries, tires) and the ability to read, interpret and apply digital repair instructions (often in English)
