Trainee as Retail Merchant

Three-year apprenticeship as a retail merchant at Transgourmet (Selgros). You learn how to delight customers, help shape product ranges and get to know business processes. A lower secondary (Hauptschule) or intermediate secondary (Realschule) school certificate is required. You start your apprenticeship with us on 01.09.2027.

• Range maintenance: You make sure the product offering stays current (restocking, placing correctly, checking stock/prices/labels).
• Goods receipt: You accept deliveries, check quantity and quality, book the goods into the system and store them correctly.
• Customer services: You advise customers, answer questions, help with complaints/exchanges and find suitable solutions.
• Merchandise planning: You plan and order goods according to demand so enough is available and no overstock arises.
• Analysis of business key figures: You evaluate e.g. sales, turnover and stock levels and derive improvements/ordering decisions from them.
• Warehouse and logistics processes: You organize the flow of goods and warehouse structure (picking, packing, inventory) and pay attention to order and safety.

• Interest in retail and products: desire to work with goods, ranges and trends.
• Customer orientation & communication skills: friendly, helpful, able to explain well and listen.
• Reliability & sense of responsibility: keeps agreements, works carefully (e.g. at the checkout, goods receipt, orders).
• Organizational talent: can prioritize tasks (stocking goods, reordering, serving customers).
• Numeracy: for price/quantity calculations and simple key figures.
• IT affinity: not afraid of merchandise management systems, scanners, digital processes.
• (Physical) resilience & flexibility: stays calm even in stressful times; willingness to work changing hours and on Saturdays
• Initiative & willingness to learn: pitches in, asks questions, accepts feedback and keeps developing.
