Thesis: Laser processing of transparent materials with new laser beam sources and beam shaping optics (SS27)

Thesis at TRUMPF in Ditzingen on laser processing of transparent materials with new laser beam sources and beam shaping optics. You work closely with experienced colleagues and get individual support. Start is in the summer semester 2027.

• Time-resolved analysis of light-material interaction in transparent materials using pump-probe microscopy
• Optical and mechanical implementation of new laser concepts for glass cutting with lasers
• Testing newly developed optical systems in practice by validating optics concepts
• Developing, analyzing and independently evaluating new processing methods regarding laser parameters and beam shaping concepts
• Helping with material processing using state-of-the-art ultrashort pulse lasers in the pre-development team

• Study background in physics, optics, engineering or a comparable degree program or qualification
• Ideally lab experience with lasers and optics
• Basic programming skills in Python or Matlab and excellent MS Office skills
• Very good English or German language skills
• Structured and independent way of working, analytical and conceptual thinking
