PhD Student Biology

We are the UKM (University Hospital Münster) with a clear societal mission and the combination of patient care, research, and teaching. The research project focuses on Fabry disease, a lysosomal storage disorder due to α-galactosidase A deficiency, leading to multisystem disease. The aim is to better understand inflammatory processes to enable more targeted treatment of patients. The position is limited to 3 years with possibility of extension, part-time (65%), pay group TV-L E13, in Medical Clinic D, Interdisciplinary Fabry Center (IFAZ).

Cell culture (primary cell culture, cell lines); cell analyses (ELISA, FACS, luciferase); molecular biology (cloning, PCR, RNA and DNA extraction, Western blot); work with valuable (irreplaceable) patient material; proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and more.

Above-average Master's degree in Biology or Biochemistry; very good English skills written and spoken; practical experience in cell culture and molecular biology; previous Master's thesis and knowledge of the human immune system desirable; basic knowledge of R or Python; motivated, flexible, team-oriented, committed; reliable and able to work independently.
