As a mechatronics technician, you work at the intersection of mechanics, electrical engineering, and information technology. You are trained in these areas to later understand and master complex work processes in the respective specialist departments. These include electronics, measurement, control, and regulation technology, programmable logic controllers, hydraulics, pneumatics, as well as manual and machine manufacturing of components on milling, drilling, and turning machines. You work hand in hand with various professional groups in a team and can prove your independence in extensive project tasks.

For the apprenticeship you need a secondary school diploma (Mittlere Reife) with good grades in mathematics, German, physics, as well as interest in technology and manual dexterity. The regular apprenticeship lasts 3.5 years. Through good theoretical and practical performance during your apprenticeship or with a corresponding school education, you can achieve early admission to the IHK final exam. This shortens your apprenticeship to 3 years.
