Patent Engineer

ZF is seeking a patent engineer in Friedrichshafen. The four-person team advises and supports Corporate Research & Development on all aspects of industrial property protection.

• Support one or more technology or specialist departments on intellectual property matters, including advising and supporting inventors
• Develop and maintain the assigned intellectual property rights portfolio
• Conduct intellectual property searches and prepare expert opinions
• Handle offensive and defensive disputes, assess risks and develop recommendations for action
• Represent the company before patent offices and courts
• Review and negotiate contracts with third parties concerning industrial property protection

• Completed degree in electrical engineering, physics, computer science, mechanical engineering or a comparable subject
• Additional qualification as a German patent assessor, German patent attorney, European Patent Attorney and/or several years of
• Experience in a corporate IP department
• German and English language skills at negotiation level
• An independent, systematic approach to work and strong analytical skills
• Strong communication skills in an international setting (German/English)
