Bachelor's/Master's Thesis Student in Rotor System Design

Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Bachelor's/Master's thesis student in Rotor System Design for a thesis titled "Design for vibration damping of the main gearbox suspension". You will get to know the work of a design engineer in rotor systems. Location: Donauwörth. Start: summer semester 2027. Duration: 3-6 months.

• Carry out an analysis of existing design solutions for vibration damping systems of the MGB suspension.
• Identify critical design aspects based on experience from earlier developments, manufacturing and operation.
• Collect requirements from relevant interfaces in the stress, loads, dynamics and gearbox departments.
• Develop suitable design solutions in line with these technical requirements.
• Evaluate initial design concepts, select the most promising solution and work it out in detail.
• Compare the chosen concept with existing designs using weight and manufacturing cost estimates.
• Define and plan a strategy for component tests.
• Prepare an outlook on the certifiability of the selected design under aviation regulations.

• Enrolled full-time student (d/m/w) in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or a comparable degree program.
• Experience with 3D CAD software (preferably CATIA V5).
• Solid basic understanding of mechanical systems.
• Open, curious mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
• Enthusiasm for working in a cross-functional, international environment.
• Strong teamwork skills combined with an independent working style and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent German and English.
