Dual Study Programme B.Sc. Applied Computer Science

What does a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) (d/m/w) in Computer Science do? Computer science is a field with enormous dynamism: areas of activity constantly evolve with new technologies and place permanent new demands on a company's employees. Through the mobilisation of computers with smartphones, tablets and watches, corporate IT systems can be used practically anywhere. Mobile devices are miniaturised to the point of disappearing from people's focus – the so-called Internet of Things (IoT). In addition to classic programming and networking of software systems (information technology), distributed mobile applications in unreliable networks (mobile computing) are added. The security of IT systems (IT security) also forms a comprehensive field of activity, as attacks on computer systems by hackers, viruses or Trojans represent a ubiquitous threat to companies. Intelligent systems today support decisions or even take them autonomously (artificial intelligence). In autonomous driving and flying, artificial intelligence plays an equally important role as in production, logistics or medical technology. Local computing without networking to large servers is becoming increasingly important, for example in the analysis of speech or camera images in highly sensitive application areas. The study content is supplemented by project management, corporate management and business administration. Computer scientists form the link between user and IT system. They can systematically translate requirements into solutions using the latest technologies. Cooperation partner: Duale Hochschule Ravensburg, Campus Friedrichshafen. What does your dual study programme at Airbus look like? The study portion at the dual university provides you with the theoretical foundations for the practical phases in the company, where you gain direct insight into the work area of a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in the computer science programme. In the practical phases you initially acquire electrical engineering and information technology basic qualifications and are integrated into current projects of the company's specialist departments. During your studies you gain in-depth knowledge of current IT legislation and current attack scenarios as well as handling operating systems. In the company divisions you are introduced to practical projects and work increasingly independently. An important milestone of your studies is the bachelor thesis, which you write at the end of your training in our company. Contents of the Computer Science – IT Security programme: Theoretical Computer Science, Operating Systems (UNIX/Linux), Databases, Programming (C/C++), Software Engineering, Network Technology, IT Law, IT Security. Additional qualifications in programming languages, scientific work and foreign languages round off your studies. How long does the programme last? Standard period of study: 3 years. Practical/theoretical portions: 6 semesters each of 3 months.
