What You'll Learn
The Ausbildung lasts three years and concludes with a state-recognized examination. According to the new Nursing Professions Act, the generalist curriculum comprises a total of 2100 theoretical and practical teaching hours as well as 2500 teaching hours in practical assignments in the various specialist disciplines. In addition, there is a share of hours for general education subjects. The curriculum is scientifically sound and ensures a close integration of theory and practice. The practical component particularly includes the care and support of psychiatric and neurological patients. After completing the Ausbildung, all fields of work in nursing are open to you without additional training – and this applies throughout Europe.
Requirements
- Minimum age 16 years
- Abitur or Fachhochschulreife or Realschulabschluss
- Medical fitness (you will receive this certificate from your family doctor)
- Vaccination documentation for measles protection
- Internship or FSJ in nursing or a medical field desirable
