Lead Expert Deployment Ecosystem BundesMessenger

As the Bundeswehr's primary digitalization partner, BWI provides stable, secure and efficient IT services in Germany and abroad. The BundesMessenger is the open-source backbone for secure and independent communication of administration, authorities and the Bundeswehr. As Lead for Deployment Paths & Ecosystem, you make the BundesMessenger ready for use, connected and future-proof across many operating environments, and build bridges to operators, IT service providers and partner organizations.

• Strategic and operational responsibility for the deployment paths of the BundesMessenger, including defining rollout, operating and development models for different operating environments
• Winning and connecting organizations, operators and integrators, and providing technical support from initial integration to stable operation and lasting success
• Building and strategically developing the BundesMessenger ecosystem to strengthen the Bundeswehr's communication across organizations
• Further developing deployment models and technical standards to ensure reliable, secure and consistent use of the BundesMessenger in different environments
• Setting direction independently and taking decision responsibility in your own area, and confidently representing decisions to internal departments, clients and external parties
• Designing and providing suitable interfaces, documentation and onboarding materials so new participants can get started quickly and independently
• Aligning the product roadmap with the requirements of the different deployment paths and jointly prioritizing features to make rollout and operation easier
• Ensuring quality and security across all deployment paths
• Building and continuously maintaining an up-to-date overview of deployment paths, operating environments and technical dependencies
• Initiating, defining and monitoring suitable technical KPIs, for example on availability, rollout time, update frequency and error rates, including deriving and implementing suitable control measures when results deviate, as well as actively sharing knowledge in the team

• Completed degree, for example in computer science, or a comparable qualification
• At least six years of relevant professional experience, ideally in software development, product management or operating complex platforms, as well as in working with external teams
• Sound knowledge of different operating and deployment models, for example on-premises, cloud and container platforms, and a strong understanding of the requirements for secure rollout and operation of software in heterogeneous environments
• Proven experience taking responsibility for independent topic areas, as well as experience in making and implementing decisions independently
• Innovative approach to complex problems and willingness to introduce new methods, tools and deployment procedures in the BundesMessenger ecosystem
• Design skills in dealing with technical constraints, especially when assessing and shaping interfaces, operating requirements and security requirements for use in different environments
• Strong partnership skills and assertiveness, and the ability to build long-term, trusting relationships with external teams and organizations while maintaining the professional objectives
• Ability to explain complex technical matters clearly and to enable others to use and integrate the BundesMessenger independently
• Strong customer and quality orientation and a pragmatic, solution-oriented way of working
• High organizational and self-management skills to coordinate parallel projects, different stakeholders and deadlines, and to carry them out in a structured and self-reliant way through to successful completion
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical content to development teams, operators, internal departments and stakeholders from administration and the Bundeswehr in a way that suits the audience
• Fluent German and confident English skills
