Senior Solution Architect Situational Command System

As the Bundeswehr's primary digitalization partner, BWI provides stable, secure and efficient IT services at home and abroad. In the Customer Solution Unit "GeoInfo, Analytics & Simulation" (GIAS), BWI provides the IT needed to capture, georeference, analyze, merge and use data in order to achieve information superiority and faster decision-making.

• As Senior Solution Architect for situational command systems, you design the technical architecture for one or more IT solutions to improve the Bundeswehr's situational awareness capability, from initiation and design through build to operation
• Translating the Bundeswehr's strategic goals into tangible architectures and shaping the technical foundation for our IT solutions
• Migrating classic systems to a modern target architecture or building new, cloud-based architectures
• For this, you coordinate various specialist architects and, as the central solution architect, put technology into use, for both systems in operation and new systems
• You understand how important it is to build structures for service management and information security, and you plan for them from the start
• You present complex technical matters appropriately for the Bundeswehr and across BWI levels

• Completed degree in business informatics, computer science or a comparable qualification
• At least seven years of experience as an IT architect, solution architect or in a comparable architect role within complex, strategic IT projects
• Expertise in common methods of classic and modern IT architecture management. Proof through certifications in IT architecture frameworks, e.g. TOGAF or CPSA, and relevant tools, e.g. Enterprise Architect, Visio, draw.io, is desirable
• At least three years of experience building data-centric analytics platforms in the areas of data fusion, databases or applications for implementing situational command systems or decision support systems. These used modern tools, technologies and methods, e.g. advanced analytics, big data, cognitive computing or artificial intelligence, based on modern cloud-native architectures (e.g. Kubernetes, microservices, CI/CD)
• Experience in the customer environment of the Bundeswehr, authorities or global industrial companies, especially in VSA-compliant architectures, is desirable
• High sense of responsibility, independence and goal orientation. Customer- and service-oriented thinking and acting as well as project- and team-oriented work are mandatory
• Enjoyment of regular on-site work in our BWI offices in Bonn and Berlin as well as at appointments with our customer, the Bundeswehr
