About this Apprenticeship
As the Bundeswehr's primary digitalization partner, BWI provides stable, secure and efficient IT services. The Technology Engineering Team in the Chief Technology Office develops and runs an AI service platform that gives BWI employees access to modern AI technology, and is currently building a strong team.
What You'll Learn
- Build and operate scalable Kubernetes clusters with GPU support as the basis of an AI service platform
- Implement and review security policies
- Develop and implement an update, patch and recovery strategy
- Implement and operate monitoring and observability solutions (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana)
- Close collaboration in an agile, interdisciplinary team of data scientists, ML/AI engineers and fullstack software developers
- Support and mentor the developer team on deployment, operation and efficient use of Kubernetes
Requirements
- Completed degree (Master's or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics or a related field
- Several years of practical experience after graduating (at least 2 years) running container and virtualization environments with a focus on Kubernetes
- Knowledge of network and security concepts
- Experience providing and administering CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitLab CI, Tekton, ArgoCD)
- Good understanding of DevOps principles and infrastructure as code
- Fluent German and very good written and spoken English

- Starting salary is usually between €57,800 and €74,600 gross per year. The exact amount depends on criteria such as qualification, area of responsibility and position requirements. Justified deviations are possible in individual cases
