Senior CI/CD Platform Engineer / Architect

As the Bundeswehr's primary digitalization partner, BWI provides stable, secure and efficient IT services. The Architecture & Engineering team is responsible for the architecture and implementation of modern system and service management applications.

• Hands-on engineering and technical development of our central CI/CD platform, focusing on automation, standardization and scalability
• Design and practical implementation of end-to-end CI/CD pipelines from source code through artifact and container management to automated deployment
• Development of reusable pipeline components, templates and automations, and integration of adjacent systems and APIs
• Implementation and further development of modern Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps approaches with Kubernetes/OpenShift, Terraform and Ansible
• Analysis of complex technical requirements, development of concrete solutions, practical proofs of concept and transfer into production use
• Definition of technical standards and architecture principles from engineering practice, plus technical support and knowledge transfer within the engineering teams

• Successfully completed degree in a computer science related field or a comparable qualification
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in CI/CD, DevOps, platform or software engineering
• Solid practical experience with CI/CD platforms and tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or ArgoCD, and enjoyment of hands-on engineering
• Very good knowledge of Kubernetes/OpenShift and practical experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation, especially with Terraform and Ansible
• Experience with artifact and container management, e.g. Nexus, Harbor or Quay, and with integrating systems and tools via APIs
• Experience with modern DevOps and GitOps approaches and with additional tools for quality, testing and developer experience, e.g. SonarQube, Eggplant or Backstage
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and good architectural understanding, plus the ability to turn technical decisions into practical solutions together with other engineers
