Senior Mainframe System Engineer Db2

The department provides the hardware and software infrastructure for running the Bundeswehr's central applications at the data center sites in Bonn and Strausberg. It is responsible for designing the mainframe infrastructure, and for provisioning, maintenance, operation and second-level support of the z/OS operating system, including security, database, automation, monitoring, and production and application control software.

• System programming & operations: installing, configuring and maintaining mainframe databases using tools such as SMP/E
• Backup & recovery: ensuring data integrity, disaster recovery and performing system tuning
• Performance optimization: analysis and troubleshooting of system and SQL bottlenecks
• Advising and supporting development in integrating Db2/IMS into batch, remote and online processes
• Analysis and resolution of complex system failures in 2nd level support

• Successful degree in IT (computer science, business informatics) or a comparable qualification
• At least approx. 4 years of relevant experience in mainframe system programming
• Very good knowledge of system programming (Db2)
• Sound knowledge of relevant mainframe technologies and tools, especially SQL and JCL
• Knowledge of SMP/E and Rexx an advantage
• Willingness to travel on business once per quarter and to be regularly on call
• Business-fluent German, spoken and written
