Intern Cognitive Science / Decision Intelligence

Work with us to ensure the digital future viability of the Bundeswehr. As the primary digitalization partner of the Bundeswehr, we provide stable, secure, and efficient IT services at home and abroad, from basic operations to near-deployment areas, thus continuously increasing the leadership and operational capability of the Bundeswehr. With over 8,000 colleagues, we operate and modernize one of the largest and most complex IT infrastructures in Germany. We are looking for responsible IT specialists who want to further develop the Bundeswehr IT out of conviction in challenging digitalization projects and thus contribute to Germany's security. Insights supports managers and departments in the well-founded classification of technology, market, and future topics. For this, we combine IT research, data analysis, and knowledge management to develop relevant insights and decision-making bases from information. In the internship, you will gain insights into current issues around digitalization, technologies, and artificial intelligence and actively work on research and analysis assignments.

• Analysis of how people absorb, evaluate, and use complex information for decisions
• Research on current issues from Cognitive Science, Decision Science, Behavioral Science, and Human-AI Interaction
• Development and evaluation of approaches for decision-oriented preparation of research and analysis results
• Investigation of decision-making behavior, cognitive biases, information processing, and cognitive load in the context of complex technology and management topics
• Analysis of how humans and artificial intelligence can meaningfully interact in research and decision-making processes
• Development and testing of methods and criteria for evaluating the comprehensibility, relevance, and usability of insights and decision-making bases
• Participation in the further development of our research and insights formats as well as in current research and analysis assignments

• Enrolled student of Cognitive Science, Decision Science, Behavioral Science, Cognitive Psychology, Human-Computer Interaction, or a comparable field, preferably from the 4th bachelor semester or in a master's program
• Interest in human decision-making behavior, information processing, and the interplay between humans and artificial intelligence
• Basic knowledge of empirical research methods and interest in qualitative and quantitative investigation approaches
• Interest in current technology, digitalization, and AI topics as well as research and evidence-based questions
• Structured, careful, and analytical way of working and enjoyment in examining complex relationships
• Ability to research scientific findings, critically classify them, and present them understandably
• First experience with statistics, data analysis, experimental methods, Python/R, or AI/LLM applications is an advantage but not a requirement
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
• Good German and English skills, both written and spoken
