Development Engineer - Production Equipment for Optical Manufacturing | R&D

In our Mechanical Design Production Equipment department, you will develop production equipment for highly precise optical manufacturing processes – from clamping and handling fixtures to solutions for machining, coating and cleaning. In doing so, you will help create the conditions required to manufacture new optical products reliably and consistently.

• Develop and design mechanical and mechatronic production equipment for manufacturing, machining, coating, cleaning and handling optical components
• Design clamping fixtures, transport and handling solutions, as well as components for the precise positioning and covering of optics
• Gradually take technical responsibility for development work packages, from requirements management through to handover to manufacturing
• Develop concepts, technical specifications and requirements documents for new manufacturing processes and complete production equipment sets
• Optimise and modify existing production equipment in response to new process and product requirements
• Evaluate technical solutions in terms of functionality, quality, cost and feasibility
• Manage and coordinate external development partners and suppliers throughout the development process
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Process Development, Procurement and conformity-related functions

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field
• Several years of experience in developing and designing equipment, production equipment or automation solutions
• Several years of practical experience with a 3D CAD system, preferably Creo
• Several years of experience with an ERP or PLM system, preferably SAP
• Knowledge of manufacturing and materials engineering, along with experience working with suppliers
• German language skills at C1 level and English language skills at a minimum of B2 level
