Development Engineer System Integration and Assembly Processes, fixed-term for 2 years

ZEISS is a technology leader in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, more powerful and more energy-efficient microchips. Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are made with ZEISS technologies.

• You develop assembly and integration processes for high-precision lithographic systems and support their introduction from the concept phase to series production
• You commission processes and tools, check their performance and hand them over in a structured way to engineering and production
• You analyze requirements, tolerances and interfaces, align them and ensure a robust technical implementation
• You define work packages for internal and external partners, coordinate their implementation and ensure the quality of results
• You steer development scope through reviews, audits and robust tracking along the project parameters time, cost and requirements
• You identify risks and weak points during development and series introduction, derive improvement measures and solve technical problems in a goal-oriented way

• Successfully completed degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics or a comparable field; a doctorate is welcome but not required
• Experience in developing complex technical systems, processes or tools
• Knowledge of assembling sensitive components, of electrical tooling, and ideally of working under elevated cleanliness requirements
• Structured, independent and goal-oriented way of working, and the ability to reduce complex technical relationships to the essentials
• Convincing presence, drive to shape things, sense of responsibility, and strong communication and teamwork skills
• Interest in digital development and manufacturing processes and enjoyment in advancing topics with data analysis, statistical methods or automation; experience with tools such as Python or Power BI is helpful but not required
• Willingness to travel occasionally for business, and very good German and English skills, spoken and written
