About this Apprenticeship
At ZEISS Research Quality Solutions, you will help develop the next generation of electron microscopes and make physical effects measurable at the nanometer scale. Working with development teams across different disciplines, you will take new technologies from the initial idea to a validated product.
What You'll Learn
- Develop and integrate highly complex electron microscopy systems, combining physical, vacuum, mechatronic and software technologies into a powerful complete system.
- Take technical responsibility for system integration and validation, from building prototypes and developing test strategies to demonstrating performance, reliability and compliance with specifications.
- Analyze and control factors affecting measurements at the nanometer scale, identify sources of error, define tolerance and error budgets and develop robust system architecture solutions.
- Develop concepts for systems, subsystems and interfaces, translate physical requirements into technical specifications and coordinate implementation with internal and external experts.
- Use your expertise in physics, vacuum technology and electron optics to develop new measurement concepts and advance the limits of high precision measurement technology.
- Act as a technical contact for international teams, partners and customers, manage work packages or subprojects and communicate technical results clearly and convincingly at all levels.
Requirements
- Completed degree in physics, experimental physics, applied physics or a related subject, ideally with a doctorate.
- Strong experience in systems engineering and in developing and integrating complex mechatronic, vacuum or high precision technical systems.
- Good understanding of physical relationships at the micrometer and nanometer scales and the ability to turn scientific concepts into reliable technical solutions.
- Ideally, experience in electron microscopy, vacuum technology or related high technology fields such as semiconductor technology, analytical instrumentation or measurement technology.
- Practical laboratory and development experience, combined with a structured, analytical approach focused on finding solutions.
- Strong communication skills in German and English and the ability to work successfully with development and research teams across different disciplines.
