Maintenance Engineer Mechanics in the PET Plant – with Salary Information

In the PET plant at the Dormagen site you take a key role in mechanical maintenance, mainly in pilot plant B590, and are responsible for technical building infrastructure across the whole PET plant. Pay follows pay group 12 of the German chemical industry collective agreement, with starting pay between €5,426 gross/month and €6,400 gross/month for full-time.

• You take responsibility for all mechanical maintenance activities in pilot plant B590 – a semi-industrial area with catalyst production and laboratory connection – including independent make-or-buy decisions and ensuring plant availability
• You always keep compliance and plant safety in view: you consistently apply technical standards and legal requirements and actively contribute to safety assessments and their implementation
• You independently develop concepts for maintenance projects and shutdowns, taking on technical scope definition, planning and implementation – from concept phase to execution
• You drive the defect elimination process: identifying weak points, analysing root causes, deriving measures and implementing them consistently
• You are responsible for the cost of your maintenance budget – including controlling, forecast upkeep and initiating corrective measures in coordination with Technical Asset Management
• Continuous improvement is not a buzzword for you: you independently optimise maintenance and inspection plans, spare parts strategies, FMEAs and plant documentation in SAP and APM (formerly Meridium)
• Beyond your primary area, you take on cross-plant tasks for technical building infrastructure (TGA/TFM) across the PET plant as well as operational energy management and central training and controlling topics

• You have completed a degree (Bachelor or Master) in chemical engineering, process engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable field – alternatively you bring a technician qualification with many years of experience in an engineering-related role
• You have solid professional experience in engineering, maintenance and/or production, ideally with involvement in projects, turnarounds or comparable undertakings in the chemical or a related industry
• You bring specialist knowledge of technical best practices in plant maintenance – in-depth knowledge of processes, standards and systems such as SAP PM/MM and asset management tools sets you apart
• Analytical and conceptual thinking, the ability to prioritise parallel workstreams and strong cost awareness are among your strengths
• You communicate clearly, act assertively and bring experience in technically leading process participants and working with contractors and external service providers
• Very good German and good English skills, spoken and written, round off your profile
