Apprenticeship as Train Driver in Regional Transport 2027

As a train driver you are an essential part of the DB Regio AG team, helping passengers travel safely. On 15 August 2027 the 3-year apprenticeship as a train driver (railway operations specialist, train driver and transport) (w/m/d) begins. The training mainly takes place in Husum, with some content also taught in Kiel. The vocational school is in the Bergedorf district of Hamburg and is attended in block classes.

• At the start of your training you learn what to pay attention to in order to drive trains safely and on time from A to B
• If there are deviations or changes in operations, you practise informing passengers over the loudspeakers
• You learn how our trains are prepared and put together for their journeys
• Step by step you then drive the trains yourself, with your trainers always at your side

• You have (soon) successfully finished school and your school qualification is recognised in Germany
• Your German skills are at least at B2 level
• You stay calm and keep an overview even in difficult situations
• You gladly take responsibility, make decisions quickly and are reliable and resilient
• Working on weekends and public holidays is fine for you
• The selection process includes a medical and psychological aptitude examination
